A good quality
You can’t buy a plate of bad quality. It’s all about the good quality of it.
The higher the quality is the more the plates last and cannot crack easily. It has to be a good level of quality in manufacturing and quality control.
Raw Materials
You use weight to lift the weight, which means you need high-density material to make those weights plates.
Most plates are made from rubber or iron, and buying a large set of weights is going to be more expensive.
Besides that, the transportation of heavy materials throughout the supply chain to the factory will also be more expensive.
The amount of plates
If you train, then you know that weight plates come in different sizes and weights. If you want a whole set of it, then you need a selection of 2.5, 5, 10, 25, and 45.
You can see that lighter boards are generally cheaper but more expensive per pound than heavier boards.
This is because the fixed costs of producing a weight plate do not decrease as much with lighter weights, so they are directly related to the weight of the plate. In other words; The fixed costs of making a weight plate are not directly related to weight.
Also, because there are different weighted boards, shipping and storage become more expensive because there are more different products that will be shipped, stored, and tracked. All this costs more money and time.
